Weddings are typically grand and lavish affairs, with families willing to spend as much money as possible to make it a truly memorable moment to last a lifetime. After all, the celebration of a couple’s union and their journey into lifelong matrimony should not be taken lightly. But for one Malaysian bride, her wedding reception held an even deeper, more heartwarming significance after a touching gesture by her uncle.
M’sian bride gets carried from her house to her pelamin by her uncle
Just over the weekend, TikTok user @oohlysa, otherwise known as Lysa, took to sharing an especially tender moment that occurred during the wedding of her close friend. In the video, it was seen that the bride was in a house getting ready to head across the platform where her akad nikah ceremony will be held.
Speaking to Wau Post, Lysa has mentioned that the weather had not been great as it was raining continuously. Unfortunately, this led to water levels rising gradually to a point where it was obvious that the bride’s dress and shoes would be left soaking wet if she attempted to cross over to the wedding dais on foot.
Seeing how his niece struggled with the decision to make her way across, the bride’s uncle then selflessly carried her up and walked over to the other end, before gently setting her down on her feet again once they arrived on the dais. Touched by her uncle’s sweet gesture, the bride could be seen visibly tearing up, to which her uncle responded by gently patting her head and cheek before returning back to their house.
When asked about the wedding day, Lysa shared that plenty of the bride’s friends weren’t able to attend her wedding due to the weather.
“The wedding was held at Kuala Rompin but most of her friends are from Pulau Tioman. The weather was so bad, and authorities have issued a warning stating that the wave heights were as tall as 4.5m. There were no ferry rides for a week”, she said.
Lysa recalled that throughout the wedding ceremony, her friend’s uncle was of big help as he was the wali for her friend.
“Unfortunately, my friend’s father has passed away last year due to an illness and the uncle is her father’s older sibling. Therefore, he took up the responsibility of being her wali“, she said.
Despite the wedding not going quite as planned, Lysa said that the ceremony was still a resounding success as her friend’s family remained supportive and helped her with everything she needed.
