Just a few days ago, the SPM examination results were released nationwide and plenty of students with their parent’s company would head over to their respective schools to obtain their result slip. Unfortunately for student Muhammad Syahril Saidi, he was unable to collect his results himself as he had to take care of his mother who was diagnosed with cancer.
Mom with cancer dies a day after finding out that her son has obtained 11A’s
According to local newspaper Sin Chew Daily, it was reported that when Syahril’s mother, Faridah Ismail, was diagnosed with cancer, he took up the role as her caretaker, despite being the youngest amongst his six siblings. As he recalled his days, he mentioned that he would ensure his mother’s wellbeing before heading to school, rushing home immediately after school ends just so he could take care of his mother.
On the day when the SPM results were released, Syahril was unable to head over to school to obtain his results as his mother was bed ridden. The exceptional student who studied in SM Darul Iman had scored 11A’s in his SPM examination and when his school management found out that he was unable to collect his own results, they’ve decided to pay a visit and brought his results to him.
Surprising him with his results and some well wishes, Syahril shared that he was touched by the school management’s arrangement. Unfortunately, Syahril’s mother had passed away a day after finding out that he has obtained 11A’s. Following her passing, Syahril accompanied by his grandmother, Zainab Othman during the final rites and laid his mother to rest.
“I’ve accepted that she has left me forever”, said Syahril not wishing to comment any further on the matter.
Speaking to Syahril’s grandmother, local newspaper NST revealed that Syahril and his siblings have been relying on each other since their father passed away 7 years ago.
“After their father passed and their mom was diagnosed with cancer, they took turns taking care of her but Syahril was by her side most of the time”, she said.
Congratulations on your outstanding results Syahril, may you continue to excel in everything you do.
