Whether it’s for a hearty meal or a quick hangout sesh, our local mamak restaurants always make the perfect spot. While we have our ‘abang-abang’ mamak to thank for that, here’s another reason to show them some appreciation.
Mamak restaurant staff work together to lift a fallen tree during rainstorm
As we approach the monsoon season, there doesn’t seem to be day that goes without rain. Among the side effects of heavy rainfall, are fallen trees causing obstruction, which occurred recently in a Bangsar neighborhood.
In a TikTok video uploaded by Salim Hanafiah, a few Mamak workers can be seen rushing to move a tree out of the road. Despite being pattered down on by harsh rainfall, the men remained persistent in removing the blockade.
Earning the praise and admiration of netizens
Eventually, the restaurant workers managed to lift the tree off to the side of the road, enabling motorists to pass through. Salim was able to record the entire incident while witnessing it, and expressed his admiration.
“Thank you. The strength of the mamak lies in curry Nasi Kandar and Dhal,” his TikTok caption reads, hinting at the remarkable strength and tenacity the men displayed. Along with him, other viewers showered praises on the mamak staff, applauding them for selfless act. Moreover, many who recognized them began encouraging one another to patronize the restaurant.
Indeed, real-life superheroes don’t wear capes. Kudos to these restaurant staff for their top-notch ‘service’!
