For those who are unfamiliar, Malaysia Airlines Berhad has just ended their longstanding partnership with Brahmin’s Food Services just awhile back. Following the news, the said airline is currently transitioning to a new catering service for selected domestic and international routes within Malaysia Airlines’ network.
Malaysia Airlines now allows passengers to bring their own meals onboard!
With that said, to ensure the comfort and overall experience for customers who choose to fly with Malaysia Airlines, the airline has made the decision to allow passengers to bring their own meals onboard for affected routes. During the transition period, several routes for both the domestic and international flights are affected, but it’s worth noting that meals will still be provided.
“Pre-packaged meals will be offered depending on flight class and duration, while revised meal offerings will be given to those with longer flight duration”, it said.
Looking at the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) regarding the matter, passengers are advised to go through the necessary requirements such as the liquids, aerosols, and gels (LAGs) requirements, which must not exceed 100 millilitres (ml) for international passengers departing from or transiting at international airports in Malaysia.
Other than that, passengers can also opt to bring their own meals onboard, however self-heating meals and non-halal meals are strictly prohibited in the aircraft.
“For those who require special meals, the option is temporarily unavailable, hence we allow them to bring their own meals”, said the airline.
Following that, the said airlines has urged all customers to update their contact details via “My Booking” on its website, to ensure that they receive current updates. As of now, the airline has said that the other routes that are unaffected will continue to be served by our current provider, POS Aviation.
