Malay teen & her partner impresses M’sians with ‘1 Malaysia’ lion dance performance
Combining deft choreography with acrobatic movements, lion dancers are often expected to undergo rigorous training in order to perfect the art form. And just recently, a local duo has won over the hearts of Malaysian netizens with their incredible show of unity and harmony through a spectacular lion dance performance.
In a clip that was uploaded by netizen @ahpeng2830, a Malay teenager clad in a tudung could be seen taking the reins as the lion’s ‘head’, while her partner ducks low behind her as the lion’s ‘tail’, before they both set off to execute a well-rehearsed routine together. Depicting a jovial lion prancing across the stage, the duo emulated a feline’s curiosity as it inspected a small ‘stream’, represented by a strip of blue cloth.
Attempting to ‘cross’ the ‘stream’ by means of tipping down two benches to form a ‘bridge’, the lion would then proceed to perform all manner of moves atop raised platforms in a display of true finesse. The roughly eight-minute performance was met with rapturous applause as the girls completed their set.
