As the cost-of-living rises, plenty of Malaysians are actively looking ways to increase their incomes. With that said, one of the ways that some Malaysians would go through is start a small business, offering their skills or products.
This M’sian started a small business selling coffee out of his car boot!
Just recently, local newswire agency BERNAMA has shared a story of a man who decided to start a small business, selling coffee out of his car boot. Mohamad Hazreel Mazlan who is an employee at a trading company has mustered up the courage and turned his family car, a Honda CRV into a small coffee making station.
Speaking to the newswire agency, prior to starting his own mobile cafe, he was a part-time e-hailing driver. For a capital of RM15,000, Hazreel managed to buy a coffee maker, an Espresso machine, coffee grinder and a small generator to kickstart his business. Seeing that it’s his family car, he revealed that he couldn’t do many modifications in the car, which is why he resorted into a wooden pallet as it’s more convenient.
“It’s easier to clean the space as I can move the wooden pallets around”, he said.
For the love of kopi
When asked why he chose to start a business selling coffee, he shared that it was because he always had a knack for cafe hopping. Following his cafe hopping interest, he managed to meet up with the owner of Kopi Rumah, who also sold coffee out of a car boot! Taking inspiration from him, he began his own research, searching for an economical yet effective way to break into the F&B industry.
Thankfully, with his supportive friends, family as well as some tips from the owner of Kopi Rumah, Hazreel set foot to start his very own mobile cafe that’s located at Wangsa Melawati. For those who’d like to check his mobile cafe out can head over to:

Hazreel’s mobile cafe, Lujayns’s Coffee is open Monday to Saturday from 8pm to 12am!
All the best with your mobile cafe Hazreel!
