K9 doggos, Frankie & Denti joins in on rescue mission to find KL sinkhole victim

Over the weekend, Malaysians were distraught to hear that a woman from India, Vijayaletchumi had fallen into a sinkhole after just walking along Jalan Masjid India. Despite the fire and rescue departments best efforts, they’ve yet to be able to find the woman thus far. In hopes of speeding up the process, 2 K9 units, Denti and Frankie have been called upon to help with the search.

According to local daily, Sin Chew Daily, the two K9 dogs, were brought over to Jalan Masjid India yesterday, at approximately 5pm to facilitate the rescue team’s operation. Prior to this, Frankie and Denti had been deployed on August 23 to help with the rescue operation. Together with their handlers, the iconic pair was seen conducting a search for up to 15 minutes.

Typically, trained rescue dogs are usually deployed in the event of a landslide or a collapse to help locate survivors as well as the bodies of the victim, if any. Both Frankie and Denti are well-trained rescue dogs who have been on several missions, prior to the sinkhole incident.

The Chinese daily has also shared that both K9 units were sent over to Turkey, to assist in a 14-day earthquake rescue mission. On top of that, Frankie and Denti were also a part of the 6 rescue dogs that were deployed in the Batang Kali landslide rescue mission. With their skills, they were able to locate all the victims in the landslide.

With that said, Minister of Housing and Local Government, Nga Kor Ming proceeded to award the 6 rescue dogs with honorary medals for their outstanding service.

As of now, there has yet to be any signs of the victim, other than one of her slippers that the fire and rescue team were able to retrieve previously.
