According to local newspaper Harian Metro, Zuraini Zulkornain had completed her studies back in June last year. Completing her internship at an agency and a six-month “protege”, she was still unable to secure a position regarding her degree. Facing a series of setbacks, the 1st class degree holder then decided to head back to her hometown.
“I decided that it’s best to return to my hometown and help my brother out”, she said.
Despite obtaining her degree at UiTM, Zuraini remained hardworking and humble, taking on any tasks needed to be completed in her brother’s restaurant. She would even help with washing the dishes, making beverages as well as cleaning tables. Receiving comments and questions from several people around her, she admitted that it definitely hurt her.
“They may make hurtful remarks regarding my degree and what I work as now, but I’m not ashamed”, she mentioned.
While she has been working in her brother’s restaurant for close to a year, Zuraini shared that she is still looking for a job and remains hopeful. Thankful for her family’s support towards her, the 1st class degree holder shared that she never regretted her choice for pursuing her studies.
She added that she understood how important it is to acquire knowledge and remains positive that she will be able to get a job in the future, when the time is right.
All the best in your future endeavours, Zuraini! Never give up!
