To no surprise, as they were walking around, their traditional outfits have piqued the interest of many, causing many of them to film this rare phenomenon. Sharing his experience, participating in the festival, Ameer documented it in one of his TikTok videos. Speaking to Wau Post, Ameer joined the parade on behalf of Era Sarawak.

“I’ve seen videos about the festival last year and wanted to be a part of it, hence I decided to volunteer”, he said.

On top of that, as he doesn’t own the traditional attire, he had to rent one and made sure that it was returned in good condition. The 29-year-old man also expressed how happy he was to be able to showcase his Bornean culture to the West Malaysians and tourists.

“I’m so proud to be able to showcase what Borneo means to us”, he mentioned.

Being a proud Dayak, Ameer believes that this festival is crucial as it’s one of the best ways to educate, preserve and showcase the Bornean culture, letting people know of their existence.
