With the All-England’s game coming to an end, it was a bummer to see that none of the Malaysian players were able to move compete at the finals. With that said, Malaysian shuttler Lee Zii Jia did make headlines for being the only Malaysian player that managed to advance into the semi finals, before being knocked out.
Lee Zii Jia vows to work hard and be more patient in his badminton journey
This loss comes after a string of recent defeats that the World No. 4 had experienced across multiple competitions, including the Malaysian Open, Indian Open, Indonesia Masters and German Open. But he was able to push through the losses and qualify for the semi-finals at the All England’s open.
Zii Jia faced off against Chinese player Shi Yuqi and failed to enter the finals after suffering a defeat between two games of 19-21 and 13-21 respectively. Upon his recent loss, he took to social media to say that he will strive to be more patient and enjoy the process.
The badminton star also shared that Birmingham has always held a special place in his heart.
“Unfortunately, I finished the All England this year in the semi-finals, but it was a very good match against Shi Yu Qi”, he said.
Not forgetting to thank his team, he extended his congratulations to them their hard work, as well as his sponsors for always having his back. He ended his post by saying that he would hope to move on from the losses and focus on his next tournament at the Swiss Open, which will be taking place from March 21st to March 26th.
Preliminary rounds for the Swiss Open have commenced and Zii Jia is scheduled to appear today (March 22nd) against All-England champion Shi Feng Li.
Good luck and all the best Lee Zii Jia, we’re rooting for you!
