Japanese woman hilariously mistaken cendol for Ramen, amuses netizens!
For those who are unfamiliar, cendol is actually popular Southeast Asian dessert made from rice flour, mung bean flour, or a combination of both, along with some pandan leaves, giving the ‘noodles’ their distinctive green color and unique aroma. Heading to a supermarket, Sora, a Japanese content creator has set her mind into trying out ramen in Malaysia.
Browsing through the aisle, she came across a pack cendol, which looked like green noodles to her. Without much hesitation, Sora picked up the packet and headed home, excited to try. Speaking to Wau Post, Sora has only been living in Malaysia for 10 months and is still learning about the culture in Malaysia.
Curious to see how it would taste like, she then quickly stirred up some broth, consisting of bean sprout, garlic, chicken stock and soy sauce before adding the cendol into it. As she tasted the dish Sora was slightly taken aback by the texture.
“Did I overcook this?”, she wondered.
When asked about the taste, Sora shared that it didn’t taste horrible because the cendol is quite bland on its own. Following her video, many netizens have commented on her post, telling her that the green noodles she used was actually cendol. Here’s what some of them said:
“Sister, that’s cendol, no one has made cendol with soup!”
