The month of August is arguably one of the most happening times for Malaysia as all walks of life would celebrate the Independence Day of Malaysia. With that said, plenty of schools would also organise National Day events to instill patriotism amongst the younger generation. Unfortunately for this Malaysian, what was supposed to be a happy day of celebrating National Day has become sour as her teacher decides to wipe all her makeup off.

Just recently, a Malaysian named Shazliey has shared an encounter that his daughter, Nur Ammara has experienced at school. In his video, he shared that his daughter’s school had informed them of a National Day celebration and students are encouraged to dress up in traditional outfits. Upon hearing that, his daughter had decided to dress up in a nice traditional outfit representing the Indian race.
After that, Ammara’s mother helped her put on some make up to compliment her look of the day and safe to say she was very excited to celebrate with her friends. However, as she walked into school, she was stopped by one of the teachers that was standing at the gate. As she stood there, the teacher started removing her makeup and scolded her for it.

“From afar I could hear her being scolded by the teacher”, he said, adding that it must’ve been a traumatic incident for her daughter as she was scolded right in front of two other male students.
He revealed that the teacher asked his daughter if she understood Bahasa and why did her parents let her wear makeup to school, knowing that it’s not allowed. But as they checked their WhatsApp group with the school, it wasn’t stated that makeup wasn’t allowed for the celebration.
“They didn’t mention that makeup wasn’t allowed, they only told us that the children would have to be dressed in traditional outfit for the celebration”, he said.

May she grow up strong and resilient
Following the incident, Shazliey shared that he has tried to reason with the teacher but to no avail. As the situation continues to unfold, Shazliey, together with his wife then met the school principal to discuss about the matter.
Subsequently, Shazliey made a separate video and thanked everyone who had given his daughter the support and encouragement needed after going through the whole ordeal.

“Thank you to all those who’ve shown their support for Ammara, however, I’d like to take this opportunity and urge the public to stop throwing hate at the teacher”, he said.
Despite the ordeal, Shazliey is certain that there’s a takeaway from this incident and he hopes that his daughter will be able to grow up with more resilience and strength.

“I hope she knows that in life, there will be people who are unhappy with us regardless, it’s up to us on how we overcome our own emotions”, he mentioned.
