When it comes to being on the road, it’s normal that there are rules that we must adhere to, to ensure our safety. That being said, it’s worth noting that even the size of the car plate would matter because it helps authorities identify the owner of the vehicle.
M’sian fined by JPJ for having a car plate that’s the size of a finger
Just recently, Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia (JPJ) has shared a post regarding motorcycles that did not adhere to the rules. Upon conducting searches at areas like Shah Alam, Cyberjaya, Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya, where motorcyclists usually frequent, over 691 bikes were found to not have adhered to the rules set.
“Many of them did not wear helmets and some would even ignore the red light”, it wrote, highlighting that these are issues that would cause life-threatening accidents.
However, from their operation that occurred within 2pm to 7pm, one particular bike has caught their attention! While certain modifications are permissible, it seems like this motorcyclist has decided to modify is car registration plate. Apparently, the motorcyclist has modified it to the size of a finger, causing the authorities to be unable to see the numbers on it.
Subsequently, the post was shared to a Facebook group, where plenty of netizens have called the license plate as the world’s smallest car plate. According to the road transport act 1987, any use or installation of confusing or obscure license plate is an offence punishable by a fine of not less than RM300 and not more than RM3,000.
So, the next time you’re thinking of modifying your bike, do ensure that you’re still adhering to the rules!
