Growing up with memes has become synonymous with many of us, even until today. Sadly, we have lost one of those beloved characters in real life which has left many netizens heartbroken.
Cheems the Shiba Inu from legendary ‘Doge’ meme has passed away
If you’re an avid scroller on the Internet, chances are you came across the famous ‘Doge’ memes. The main star was Balltze the Shiba Inu, affectionately known as Cheems.
Unfortunately, Cheems passed away last Friday at the age of 12 years old. His owners announced the news via an Instagram post which was uploaded on Cheems’ official page.
“Please remember the joy that Balltze brought to the world”
In the post, the owners explained that Cheems had died from complications of a thoracocentesis operation. Although Cheems has left this world, he has certainly not left our hearts.
“A Shiba Inu with a round smiling face connecting you and me, he has helped many people during the pandemic and brought a lot of joy to many of you, but now his mission has completed,” the owners write.
They continue to say that fans should not be too down, as they believe Cheems is in a better place now. The post also mentioned that all the proceeds towards Cheem’s treatment fund would now be channeled into other animal charities.
“Was he a good dog? He was the best”
Many online users were quick to express their condolences to Cheems’ owners in the comments. Some users pointed out the positive impact that Cheems has brought to people and its lasting effect for generations.
Rest in peace Cheems, you will forever leave a pawprint in everyone’s hearts, that’s for sure.
