For many Malaysians, a typical traditional breakfast would often include half-boiled eggs, with toast and some hot coffee. With that said, plenty of restaurants would offer such meals and it’s usually a habit for customers to crack open their own eggs before they indulge in their hearty breakfast.
M’sian complains that they have to crack their own half-boiled eggs open at kopitiam in Penang
Just recently, a Facebook page named 大马资讯网 has shared a post showcasing an alleged Malaysian complaining about having to crack open their eggs while at a local restaurant in Penang. In their post, they said,
“Been visiting Penang for the past few days and this is definitely our weirdest encounter”, they said.
They went on about how absurd it was to expect them to crack open their own eggs, given that they’ve paid for their food and service. They continued on saying how they might actually hurt their finger when doing so and couldn’t wrap their heads around the fact that they need to service themselves.
“Would they expect us to make our own coffee in the future? Or would they ask me to fry my own noodles?”, they ridiculed.
They then emphasised again that cracking the eggs open by themselves would cause them to injure their fingers as the eggshells are hot to touch.
Following their post, plenty of netizens have commented on the incident and here’s what some of them said:
“It’s been like that for decades and you’d usually have to crack them open yourselves, there aren’t many shops that’ll crack them open for you. Don’t you think there’s a sense of achievement when you crack the eggs open yourself? Although it’s pretty hot.”
“It has always been the norm to crack your own half-boiled eggs.”
“what’s the issue? Can’t you just do it yourself?”
“It’s more hygienic to do it yourself.”
“Is this your first-time having eggs?”
“Is this your first-time ordering eggs when eating out?”
