Immigration trainee allegedly gets stepped on the neck during fitness test
Over the last weekend, local newswire agency BERNAMA reported that a trainee with the Immigration Department suffered multiple injuries after a senior officer allegedly stepped onto his neck. It was said that the victim along with 2 other trainees were in the midst of a fitness test to be qualified to join the ranks of the Special Tactical Team (PASTAK) at the temporary immigration depot located in Bidor.
According to Perak Police Chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, the authorities received a report on the matter around 9:30am and upon probing further, discovered that the victim along with 2 other trainees were ordered by the senior officer to do 20 pushups.
“As the victim was doing his pushups, the senior officer had allegedly stepped on the back of his neck, causing him to lose balance and head plant onto the ground”, he said.
Mohd Yusri shared that the victim has sustained multiple injuries, including a bruised lip, injured nose, wounds on his gums and a broken front tooth as a consequence. The complainant was then sent to the emergency department in a hospital located in Shah Alam where he was provided medical treatment.
As of now, Mohd Yusri has shared that the suspects and others involved have been asked to assist in an ongoing investigation under Section 325 of the Penal Code for grevious hurt. If found guilty, the officer will be subjected to a fine and/or a jail term of up to 7 years.
