Relationships require effort from both parties and occasionally there could issues that arise. Unfortunately for this Singaporean woman, turning down the advances of a man who had intended to pursue her romantically led to legal action.

Woman keeping man in friend-zone resulted in 2 separate lawsuits

According to CNA, it appears the the man by the name K Kawshigan has filed a lawsuit against a woman named Nora Tan. Prior to this, it appears that K Kawshigan was in the midst of pursuing Nora Tan romantically. It was reported that they’ve met in a social setting back in October 2016.

However, in September 2020, conflict arose between the both of them and it appears that there was a ‘misalignment’ in the friendship. Nora explained to Kawshigan that she only saw him as a friend while he thinks of them as close friends. Consequently, she then suggested to him that they should distance themselves from this friendship. Unfortunately being relegated to the ‘friend-zone’ has caused him displeasure and proceeded to threaten her with civil and court cases.

Following that, she received a phone call from a woman who claimed to be his counsellor and told her to participate in counselling activities with him so he could come to terms with the matter. After a year and a half of attending various counselling sessions, Nora finds that the sessions were of little to no help and decided to stop attending.

Kawshigan then proceeded to file 2 separate lawsuits against Nora. One of the lawsuits was filed in Magistrate Court while the second lawsuit was filed in the High Court.

Following that, in a separate lawsuit filed in the Magistrate’s Court that was struck out by deputy registrar Lewis Tan it appears that he has filed another S$22,000 for breaching an agreement to improve their relationship.

Nora has since filed for a counterclaim and defence to the higher court. Additionally, she has also long-term personal protection order application against Mr Kawshigan, with the trial for this continuing in February.
