Many of us who have a dog or cat of our own are no doubt accustomed to treating them like cherished members of our own family. Lavished with attention and care, domesticated animals are never left wanting for love. But the same cannot be said of stray animals who are born and left to survive on their own on the streets, where they have no choice but to depend on the kindness and generosity of others around them.
Speedmart employees allow stray dog to take shelter and hide from thunderstorms in their store
Thankfully however, one stray dog has managed to find some solace from the harsh outdoors when it was recently revealed that store employees from a local 99 Speedmart outlet had allowed it to seek refuge in their store during a thunderstorm. The heartwarming gesture was apparently discovered by netizen Aqluq Hakimi Saiful Aula, who took a photo of the frightened dog curled up over stacks of dog food and posted it onto community Facebook page 47000 Sungai Buloh Official.
According to Aqluq, he had been picking out some items on the shelf when he noticed the dog tucked under the shelf, before proceeding to ask shop employees about the creature’s presence. He was told that the dog was often frightened by the sound of thunderstorms and had run into the store to hide. Apparently, this wasn’t the first time it had done so either as the dog would return to the store to hide from the elements whenever there was a thunderstorm or heavy rain outdoors.
“I feel pity for it. The fate of a stray dog.” Aqluq said.
Netizens rally behind the kindness of the store employees
The post then gained traction within the local social media space after Twitter user @nabilfikran10 took a screenshot of the post before sharing it over his Twitter profile, where it had since gone viral. Touching the hearts of many, netizens from all across Malaysia applauded the kindness and empathy of the store’s employees towards an innocent stray animal.
“It’s such a pity to see it so scared. If I could pet it, I would’ve pet it a long time ago. But I’m scared of being bitten.”
“Salute to the workers there. Helping animals brings many blessings. It doesn’t matter if the animal is a cat or a dog if they need shelter or food, we just provide them with it. Later on, God will bless us with more. Stray animals aren’t like domesticated animals. They have basic needs too. Save animals.”
“May the Speedmart employee who let the dog sleep in the store be blessed with an easy life, and may Allah SWT grant them a place in heaven. Amin.”
One netizen has also requested for the exact location of the outlet in question to be kept hidden, lest the employees in question wind up in trouble with more conservative customers who may not be nearly as welcoming of the dog’s presence.
“If this goes on FB, it could get dangerous. We should protect this place. Please don’t disclose the specific shop. Conservatives have a very different definition of heaven.”
