As shared by Thai newspaper The Nation Thailand, 56-year-old Mr Suthep “Maew” Promjit has clocked as many as 1,100 kilometres by Saturday (February 11th, 2023) on his grueling trip from his hometown of Nakhon Nayok in Central Thailand, to the Southern province of Satun where his girlfriend Thanapa Khiaw-on resides, in hopes of proposing to her on Valentine’s Day.

After some time, Thanapa challenged Suthep to prove his love to her by walking or running from his hometown to her province of Satun, reports The Thaiger. Boldly taking on the feat, he started off on January 14th with the goal of reaching at her doorstep on Valentine’s Day and proposing to her. He also hopes to prove to others that it was possible to find true love over social media through his journey.

“I want people who abuse their families and loved ones, as well as those who are unfaithful to their wives, to pay attention to this journey,” he said.

No challenge too great

Documenting the entire voyage through his TikTok profile, he arrived in the province of Trang and was accompanied by his 50-year-old friend Niwat Thongwithi who was riding on a saleng, which is a customised motorbike with a small sidecar.

While he has lost 17 kilos since he started his journey, he remains undeterred and hopes to arrive at his girlfriend's province on Valentine's. Image credit: kaocivid1970

Understandably, the trip on foot has been a grueling one with Suthep losing more than 17 kilos since he embarked upon it. But he remains undeterred, and said that he is looking forward to travelling with his new wife around Thailand once they are wedded.
