In a recent video posted on TikTok, Hamzie shared that he and his neighbours were enjoying a simple get together, having their meals together. Looking at the video, some families had their mats out, having a picnic in front of their house, while some had portable tables out, enjoying their meals while mingling around.
Speaking to Wau Post, the man shared that this has been a normal occurrence for them.
“We’ve been celebrating the festive season together for over 3 years”, he mentioned.
Adding on to it, Hamzie said that they would also celebrate other festive seasons like Chinese New Year, Ramadan and Mid-autumn festival. Recalling the past events that were held, he mentioned that during the mid-autumn celebration, his Chinese neighbours would prepare lanterns for the kids in the neighbourhood.

“They would distribute it to the kids, and we would walk around the neighbourhood while the kids played with the lanterns together”, he said.
Other than celebrating the festivities together, the man also shared that they have a football team consisting of the neighbours in the street they live in. After their football session, they would all hang out at a nearby mamak, enjoying their time together.
When it comes to the cleanliness of their neighbourhood, Hamzie revealed that they’re very on top of it. On top of the occasional gotong-royong that they’ll have, all of them would pick up after themselves to ensure that everyone is living in a clean environment.
“If we’re playing with fireworks, we’d all enjoy the process and then clean up after we’re done”, he mentioned.
