Malaysia is a country filled with different culture and heritages. What makes it special is the fact that individuals are allowed to practice their own faith and culture, as long as it doesn’t cause inconvenience to others. Just recently, a video has gone viral on TikTok, where an employee was surprised by her bosses with a lion dance for her birthday!
M’sian surprises staff with lion dance for her birthday at a mamak stall
Speaking to Wau post, Alvin, who is the manager of Goldfinch Sdn Bhd shared that he was informed by one of the area supervisors that one of their staffs’ birthday is in a few days.

“She asked us if we’re able to arrange something for her and I decided to do something different”, he said.
On November 23, Alvin managed to gather employees from other branches to head over to a mamak to celebrate the staff’s birthday. Prior to that, he made a call to the mamak they were heading to and told them about the plans. Thankfully, the mamak restaurant owner was fully supportive of their celebration and was happy to accommodate.
As they were having dinner, a team of lion dancers appeared, and upon noticing that the lion dance was hired for her birthday, it was apparent that she was surprised.

True beauty of Malaysia
As there were also plenty of customers dining at the restaurant, many of them were delighted to see the lion dancers perform. When asked why he decided to hire a team of lion dancers, he expressed that he wanted to do something different.

“This is the true beauty of Malaysia. I know most Malaysians enjoy lion dance performances and wanted it to be something enjoyable for everyone”, said Alvin.
Ending the interview, Alvin shared that he hopes that through the video, Malaysians are able to remember how united and accepting we are of each other.
