Jofli Abu Bakar also known as Jofiliam on TikTok is famous for his hard-to-get wagyu beef pizzas. The influencer shared that his interest of making pizzas started during the movement control order (MCO), and in 2021, he started selling his pizzas on Instagram. His wagyu beef pizzaz are deemed as ‘hard to get’ because he doesn’t have a storefront that people could visit and the only way to order is through his Instagram on specific days.
Jofilam competes in Pizza making competition in Italy, ranks 4th overall
Taking his interest into greater heights, Jofli has decided to participate in the Tutto Pizza competition held in Napoli, Italy. Along with 50 other teams from around the world that participated, Jofli has become the first Malaysian to enter the said competition, along with his two friends, Salavatore Miil and Vincenzo Di Nuzzo.
According to local newswire agency, BERNAMA, it was reported that Jo’s initial plan was to bring his own team over but knowing that the competition organisers will not be preparing the equipments needed to make the pizza, he then decided to call up his friend Salavatore.
“I contacted Salavatore and asked if he was willing to participate in the competition with me, representing Malaysia and he was happy to oblige”, said Jo, adding that it was an honour to have Salavatore join his team in helping him put Malaysia on the map.
Striving to be the best in the pizza business
After the scoring was done, Jo was informed that him and his team were ranked fourth amongst the top 16 teams that were selected and being one of the teams in the top 16, they will have the opportunity to participate in a reality TV show aired in Italy called “Master Pizza Champion.”
Jo revealed that his determination to participate in the competition came from his eldest son who is currently 8 years old. He said that his son was always in awe with him making pizzas for his customers. He then asked his friends from Italy as to what he should do to get to the next level and they’ve advised him to participate in the competition that’s held annually.
Being accredited with a certificate from the biggest pizza competition in Italy, Jofli shared that he has yet to decide on where to embark on to his next journey. However, one thing’s for sure is that he wants to strive to be the best in the pizza business in Malaysia!
