While many of us are blessed with family, not everyone gets to enjoy a loving home. However, thanks to one kind woman, her act of service has made that possible.
M’sian woman who runs children’s home receives visit from Minister Steven Sim
So, who is this good Samaritan? According to Human Resources Minister Steven Sim, she is known affectionately as Madam Pakiam. Taking to his TikTok, the minister shared his recent visit to Sinar Ceria Home in Alma, Bukit Mertajam.
Returning to his hometown, Steven Sim grabbed the opportunity to meet with the home’s founder. “I have known her back when I was not a Member of the Parliament yet,” he explained in the video caption. Furthermore, the clip shows the politician conversing with Madam Pakiam, who was now elderly and bedridden.
“Thank you for your service”
Initially, Madam Pakiam started the home since 2004, opening her doors to abandoned children with no place to go. The home continues to operate under the supervision of her granddaughter Sdri Anita. Additionally, Steven pointed out that she was previously honored with a medal from the Governor of Penang a few years back.
Moreover, the minister said that she would always pray for him each time he visited her, hence emphasizing on her heart of gold. “You are God’s special servant. Thank you for your service,” he warmheartedly says to her. On top of that, netizens lauded Madam Pakiam’s contributions, and Steven Sim for staying close to his roots.
