For many Malaysians, Ramly burger is a delicacy that can be found almost everywhere around Malaysia. Brimming with flavour and easily accessible for typically affordable prices, it has become one of the cornerstones of Malaysian street food culture and can be found in most parts of the country.

While many of us may enjoy a Ramly Burger every now and then, Singaporean competitive eater Zermatt Neo decided to take things up a notch and finish 50 Ramly burgers with his team in one go!

For those who are unfamiliar, competitive eating is an extreme activity that requires an individual to finish large amounts of food within a time limit. Zermatt is no stranger to this scene and has previously visited Penang last year to down 18 plates of char kway teow in 40 minutes.

The video begins with Zermatt explaining to viewers that he will attempt to eat 50 of Malaysia’s best-known burgers with his team of 3. While filming the proprietor cooking, Zermatt couldn’t help but praise the drool-worthy burgers.

“It smells so good and the whole experience of eating it here compared to eating it in a Singapore restaurant is different.”

As he unwrapped one of his burgers, he described it as being one of the ‘sloppiest burgers’ he’s ever had, as evidenced by the amount of sauce used. Following that, he and his team of 3 began eating the burgers and as he finishes his first burger, he complimented the richness of the burger’s flavour, even though it doesn’t look big in size.

They then continued on with the challenge and at one point, he pointed out that the patties used in Ramly Burgers appeared to be even thicker than those from many popular fast food chains.

At the end of the challenge the 50 Ramly burgers weighing a total of 12kg was finished by the team, with Zermatt himself eating a total of 35 pieces that roughly weighed around 8.7kg! On the other hand, his team of 3 finished up 8, 5, and 2 burgers respectively.

His verdict? Well according to Zermatt, he felt like he underestimated the burgers, as some Malaysians have warned him that consuming even 20 Ramly burgers in one sitting is already considered an insane feat in itself. He then ended the video saying that he would gladly come back for another round of burgers before he flies back to Singapore.
