Secondary school teacher encourages more M’sians to try out Sepak Takraw!

Sepak Takraw is a traditional sport native to Southeast Asia, combining elements of soccer, volleyball, and gymnastics. It’s known for its high-flying acrobatics and skillful footwork. Just recently, a Malaysian teacher was seen patiently explaining and encouraging students to try Sepak Takraw!

According to a video posted by @wuq_fendy, he shared a video of a teacher patiently guiding 3 students in Sepak Takraw. Taking place at the  Jempol MSSD L15, at SMK (f) Lui Barat the team was led by a teacher named cikgu Affandi Bin Abd Rahman from SMK Bahau 2. Watching the video for ourselves, the hardworking teacher was seen guiding the Indian students in their game.

Throughout the match, the trio displayed excellency in working together towards their goal. Speaking to Wau Post, the teacher shared that he was thrilled to find out that there have been 14 students who signed up for Sepak Takraw.

A heritage sport in Malaysia, meant for Malaysians

Sharing his passion for Sepak Takraw, the teacher is definitely happy that he was able to pass on the knowledge and culture of Sepak Takraw to the younger generation.

“We love encouraging Malaysians to try out Sepak Takraw, regardless of their race. It’s a challenging sport for sure, but it helps train your whole-body coordination”, he said.

When asked for his advice to those who are interested in Sepak Takraw, he mentioned,

“You must be discipline. You can’t expect to be good at something you don’t put effort in.”

On top of that, he also encouraged those who are interested to find the right coach that suits their needs. But most importantly, he urged for those that are interested to always enjoy the game.

“Don’t put too much pressure about winning or losing the match. If you’re only focused on winning, the passion, fun and fulfillment you get when playing the sport would slowly diminish”, he said.

As the video goes viral online, many netizens cheered on for the teacher and the boys. Here’s what some of them said:
