According to local newspaper Harian Metro, G Rajspari, affectionately known as Ratha would start displaying her flags all over her apartment, as well as her Proton Kembara. Residing in Ipoh, the 62-year-old woman shared that the idea to decorate her apartment with Jalur Gemilang flags came about 4 years back during the pandemic.

“At the time, we weren’t allowed to go out and to kill time, I decided that it’ll be nice to decorate the house with our national flag”, she said.

On top of that, Ratha has also taken the liberty to decorate her Proton Kembara with the national flag. Driving around Ipoh with her car, Ratha would occasionally receive words of encouragement, as well as waves from strangers and road users. Receiving such support from the public, Ratha couldn’t help but feel touched.

“What makes me happiest is seeing the amount of support, love and respect they have when they see my car passing. Some of them would wave, others would show me the sign of respect”, said the mother of three.

Whilst having to fork out money to replace some of the flags that may have discoloured, Ratha’s sense of patriotism remains high. Through her actions, she hopes that it’ll be able to not only inspire her own children, but also the younger generation to always remember your roots and love your country.

Thank you Ratha, for showing us a glimpse of what patriotism looks like, even if it’s just within your means.
