When getting behind the wheel of a car, one should keep in mind to always be wary of your surroundings to prevent any untoward incidents from occurring. And in case they do happen, remain calm, be accountable and let proper procedure and law to take its due course. Only, this isn’t the rhetoric that all motorists subscribe to, as this one Proton Saga driver goes to show.
Proton Saga crashes into MPV at petrol station
In a short video that was recently uploaded to local social media by TikTok user hafizahaabuhassan, she shares how her Proton Exora MPV had suffered damage after it was involved in an accident at a petrol station in Damansara Damai.
Based upon closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage obtained from the scene, the driver of a red Proton Saga could be seen refueling with the petrol pump still attached to their vehicle.
With the driver-side door ajar, the sedan suddenly jerked to life before veering backwards completely out of control, only to swerve into a corner and run into Hafiza’s silver Proton MPV that was occupying the pump next to it.
Appears to flee the scene
Instead of taking responsibility for the damage caused however, the Proton Saga’s driver then appears to have attempted to flee the scene of the accident by jamming on the accelerator.
However in a fortuitous dose of instant karma, the Proton Saga promptly veers off the road and finds itself stuck in a ditch behind the petrol station, rendered immobilised.
A subsequent clip shared by Hafiza shows the extent of damage that her car has sustained as a result of the attempted hit-and-run, where a portion of her car’s boot lid has been left dented, while a panel near the front has been crushed from the impact. Thankfully, nobody was injured as a result of the accident.
Responding to social media users who were concerned for her and her family’s well-being. she explained that they have since settled their dispute with the owner of the Proton Saga, and will be claiming damages from the other driver’s insurance.
