Bodybuilding is a form of physical exercise and strength training that involves the development of muscles through resistance training, nutrition, and rest. It is not just about building a muscular physique but also about achieving a balanced and aesthetically pleasing body.
Philomena becomes the first S’wakian woman to win the Asian bodybuilding competition!
Just recently, according to local newspaper The Borneo Post, another amazing achievement has been achieved by a fellow Sarawakian, making her the pride of the community. In the post, it was said that Philomena has become the first Sarawakian woman to win the Asian bodybuilding competition!
Representing Malaysia, Philomena and her teammates, Mohd Syarul Azman Mahen Abdullah and Ahmad Faiz Ariffin set off to Kathmandu, Nepal for the 55th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships.
Subsequently, all three of them were able to secure three gold medals, making it a successful and rewarding trip. Philomena who is of Bidayuh descent is currently 40 and when asked about her win in Kathmandu, she shared that she is experiencing a mix of emotions which include feeling happy, relieved, grateful and emotional.
“I feel blessed because I worked really hard for this”, she said, recalling her trainings.
Not her first competition
Prior to winning the gold medal in Kathmandu, Philomena is no stranger in the field as she was placed in the Top 5 for the same competition in Batam Indonesia back in 2019 and Maldives last year. Other than that, she was crowned as the silver medalist at the 16th South East Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships in Yangon, Myanmar in 2019.
Looking forward to her next competition, the 40-year-old bodybuilder shared that this win in her career has increased her confidence towards her future competitions and she is very pumped for her next competition which will be held in South Korea this coming November.
