PENANG JULY 3, 2023 – Malaysia’s leading lifestyle and digital media company, Good Foodie Media has officially acquired the food, travel & event site Borneo Foodie. Due to its fruitful efforts in establishing connections and sharing good food with the people of Borneo, the media site caught the attention of Good Foodie Media, the parent company behind notable media titles KL Foodie and Penang Foodie. The acquisition of Borneo Foodie marked a significant step towards expanding the company’s presence in East Malaysia, including Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei.
“A Strategic Move Towards Expanding Presence Into East Malaysia”
Good Foodie Media is the brainchild of Nicholas Lim Pinn Yang, Edward Lim Pinn Jian and Ang Rui Mei; the founding trio who launched the company and its very first media title, Penang Foodie back in 2016. Since its presence soared, they took it further by establishing KL Foodie in 2018. From then on, the company continued to grow as it expanded its ventures into more vertical markets such as travel, lifestyle, e-commerce, and current affairs.
Up to now, Good Foodie Media titles have amassed over 18 million followers with a combined reach of over 100 million views across their social media platforms annually. The company’s primary demographics focus on local and international audiences with the same enthusiasm for food and lifestyle.
Prior to the acquisition, Borneo Foodie accrued up to 290,000 followers on their platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. Since their establishment in 2018, their presence grew tremendously in East Malaysia as they worked their way up to the top in becoming Borneo’s No.1 Official Food, Travel and Events platform. The acquisition will then benefit both companies by merging Borneo Foodie’s strong presence in East Malaysia and Good Foodie Media’s nationwide clientele.
“With the recent acquisition of Borneo Foodie, we believe that this strategic move will accelerate our growth in becoming Malaysia’s #1 digital media company. We are very excited about growing our platforms along with our new counterpart and bringing more exposure to the local F&B businesses there,” said Pinn Yang, CEO and co-founder of Good Foodie Media.
“This is only the beginning as we plan to further expand our presence into more cities in Malaysia.”
