There is nothing quite like coming home after a long day, throwing your feet up on the couch, and binging on your favourite television shows. As one can expect, this had led to the rise of television streaming services, a market which Netflix has since dominated, including in Malaysia.
But given its subscription nature, this has put some pause on consumers from making the leap immediately to signing up for a membership.
Netlfix Malaysia reduces Basic Plan prices from RM35 to RM28
That may be set to change, as Netflix Malaysia has just announced on its social media platforms that the prices of its Basic Plan will be reduced from RM35 a month to RM28 a month! For those who are unfamiliar, the Basic Plan includes unlimited ad free movies, TV shows and mobile games in 720p, but restricts users to only a single device.
Prior to this, Basic Plan users were only given a 480p Standard Definition output resolution, but this has since been upgraded to 720p HD for basic plan members in November last year.
Kali ni, dropping down is good news ✅ Starting today, our Basic Plan in Malaysia is now RM28 per month for both new and existing members. pic.twitter.com/lcqMpHDJW1

Back in 2016 when Netflix made its debut, Basic Plans were set at RM33 and subsequently increased to RM35 in January 2020. The price change will only involve the Basic Plan and not the Mobile, Standard or Premium plan.
The Mobile Plan still remains as the cheapest possible option for those looking to sign up for a Netflix account at only RM17 per month, but limits users to only one smartphone or tablet at any time.
As for existing members for the basic plan, the recent change in the pricing will be updated automatically and billed according to their upcoming bill cycle. An email regarding the price change and other updates will also be sent through their registered email.
