As the cost-of-living rises, eating out has become more and more expensive. With that said, looking for an affordable place to dine out may be difficult. In hopes of helping the community to combat the cost-of-living, this compassionate woman, Safiah Azlan has decided to start a small business, selling her food at a very affordable price.
M’sian woman lowers price for her food
Starting out over 14 years ago, Safiah has been selling her Nasi Lemak as well as other foods like curry mee and laksa in her stall. Having the urge to help lessen the burden of the community, she decided to price her food at only RM1 for a packet of Nasi Lemak and RM5 for her famous curry mee, laksa and some western dishes.
Along with her generous portions and delectable taste, Safiah’s stall has become a sensation at Kampung Rusila, selling out over 1,700 packets a day!
“I started selling around 400 a day, then it doubled up and became 800”, she said to local newspaper, Harian Metro.
Quality and quantity assured!
In order for the 32-year-old woman to meet the high demand, she revealed that she would use up to 100 kilograms of rice every day. With the help of her 10 workers, she is able to prepare up to 1,700 packets of Nasi Lemak a day, which sells out within 7 hours. Operating her stall from 3pm onwards, quality has always been something she prioritizes.
“Regardless of the price point, I make sure that the quality of the food served is up to standard”, she said, explaining that all her foods are cooked in batches to avoid any wastage.
As expected, her affordable Nasi Lemak has gained plenty of attraction, with many Malaysians crossing states to get a taste of her homemade Nasi Lemak. By offering affordable yet delicious meals, Safiah has managed to gain a number of loyal customers and help the community by ensuring that there’s hot food on their tables without breaking their banks.
Her generosity in her food portions and price points have definitely won over the hearts of many and we hope that she can continue to keep up the good work, serving the community, while earning an honest living. Good job, Safiah!
