In conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Malaysia-China diplomatic relations at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse today (May 31), deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Chinese vice premier Ding Xuexiang has announced that both countries have agreed to extend the visa-free travels from 15 days to 30 days.

According to local newswire agency Bernama, deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is on his first official visit to China at the invitation of Xuexiang. Following that, the newswire agency also reported that the deputy prime minister arrived at 10am, holding a discussion with Chinese vice premier, for over an hour.
After the discussion, both Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Ding Xuexiang then attending a luncheon, where both parties expressed their gratitude and appreciation towards each other’s diplomatic relations all these years.
Prior to this, China has announced that the 15 days visa-free travel will be extended to late next year, however Malaysia has yet to make a decision. Following Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s visit to China, he then proposed to extend the 15-day visa-free travel to 30 days. With that said, the implementation of the visa-free travel for up to 30 days will be signed at a later date.
Along with the visa exemption, the Malaysian and Chinese government have both agreed that this strategic implementation can help stimulate various economic segments, including business between the two countries, and not confined to the tourism sector alone. As of now Malaysians can still enjoy the 15-day visa-free travel to China.
