Over the years, Malaysia’s public transport system have been improving. With that said, many Malaysians rely on public transport to commute around town. Following that, one of Malaysia’s most prominent public transport companies, RapidKL has come up with a few plans to help reduce the financial burden of those who commutes with public transport.

M’sians can now renew their RapidKL MY50 pass online!

Just recently, RapidKL has announced that commuters around Klang Valley can now renew their MY50 pass online! The MY50 pass includes a wide range of transit options, including LRT, MRT, Monorail, BRT, Rapid KL buses, and MRT feeder bus services. For those who are unfamiliar, the MY50 pass, priced at RM50 is a pass valid for 30 days where it allows the public to travel around Klang Valley with no limits.

Other than that, commuters can also opt for the MYCity pass online where users can choose the validity for a day or 3 days. However, it’s worth noting that the MYCity pass only caters to unlimited rides on Rapid KL rail and bus services. The pass is priced at RM5 a day or RM15 for 3 days.

Physical redemption at counters still required

Prior to this, these passes were only available through RapidKL counters but now, commuters can renew or purchase their passes online here. While this has added a layer of convenience for those who commute around through public transport, users should take note that physical redemption of the pass is still required.

Commuters are required to head over to any of the RapidKL counters to redeem their passes. Following the redemption of the passes, users can then activate their passes after their first tap. For those wondering as to why physical redemptions are still required, it was said that in-person redemptions are still made mandatory as these passes are exclusive to Malaysians only.
