While most students spend their time learning in school and attending enrichment classes, things seem rather different for this 12-year-old girl. Iman was said to have been skipping classes frequently, leading to her poor grades and upon investigation, it seemed like her actions were inevitable.
12-year-old M’sian skips school so she can take care of her bedridden mother
According to a post by Mohd Fadli Salleh, he revealed that he found out about Iman through another teacher named Zharan. Fadli explained in his post that the 12-year-old kid was forced to skip school because she has to take care of her bedridden mother who suffers from stroke.
Iman who is the youngest is tasked with taking care of their mother while her older siblings are working to help support their family. Due to their living conditions, Iman’s sister who is 17 now was left with no choice but to drop out of school when she was only 13, causing her to not finish her SPM. Together with his brother, both of them are currently working at M3 mall to help with their family expenses.
Speaking to the kids, they mentioned to Fadli that the receive a total of RM500 from Baitumal MAIWP monthly to help ease their burden, but with a bedridden patient, RM500 is barely enough to cover their expenses. He hopes that through his post and with the power of social media, MAIWP can send a representative over to understand their needs better and allocate a higher amount to help them.
He mentioned that when speaking to Iman, he kept encouraging her to continue her studies and vows to help her pay for any fees required throughout her schooling journey so she can finish her SPM studies.
“May this child continue to stay strong and is given the ability to change the fate of her family”, he said.
