M’sian ranks no.3 as safest country in Asia-pacific, takes 10th spot in global list!

As the pandemic restriction eases, traveling activities are slowly getting back to normal. With that said, many have been making plans to visit different countries! Just recently, the Institute for Economics and Peace has shared rather intriguing research that reveals the safest countries in the world!

M’sian ranks no.3 as safest country in Asia-pacific, takes 10th spot in global list!

Looking at their research published, the rankings provided are based on 3 factors which are, the level of Societal Safety and Security, Ongoing Domestic and International Conflict, and the degree of Militarisation. On top of that, a new global measure has been introduced into the research incorporating military sophistication, technology, and battle readiness.

Sharing their findings for the Asia-Pacific region, New Zealand claims the first spot in the list with an average score of 1.323, followed closely by Singapore with a score of 1.339. Malaysia takes on the third spot in the list, with a score of 1.427.

Moving on to the global list for safest country in 2024, Iceland has been ranked at the safest country in the world for 2024, with a score of 1.112. Malaysia’s score remains at 1.427 leading it to claim the 10th spot on the list. Other countries listed in the list includes:

  • Ireland
  • Austria
  • New Zealand
  • Singapore
  • Switzerland
  • Portugal
  • Denmark
  • Sloveria

Ranking the countries based on the 3 factors, Malaysia places in third place for both militarisation and ongoing conflict. However, it’s worth noting that the ranking for Malaysia in the militarisation domain has slightly decreased by 1 rank. However, it’s worth noting that Malaysia’s overall rank has increased by 2 places.
