Purchasing a new car can be a very exciting milestone for many people, as it signifies a degree of personal success and achievement. In fact, some may even choose to celebrate the momentous occasion in truly unique ways, such as having their new car delivered to their home in a clear box, complete with a bow.
Unfortunately for this Malaysian DJ, it seems like the joy that she felt in collecting the keys to her new ride was cut short very abruptly.
Malaysian radio DJ finds her car stolen in just 78 hours after collecting it
Yesterday, Malaysian radio DJ Yoon, has took to her social media account to reveal how her newly bought car has been stolen just after she collected it 78 hours ago. In her post, she stated that she the incident actually took place 2 days prior to her post and she only had time to fully process what had happened.
Yoon explained that the theft occurred at SS17 in Petaling Jaya around lunch time. She said that on that day, her husband has parked her car across the street right across from a busy restaurant.
“As my husband was about to leave the area and head over to get the car, he realised the car was missing”, recalled Yoon.
Her husband then immediately headed over to the restaurant and asked if he could check the CCTV placed right outside the restaurant. Upon checking, he realised that the car was being broken into by a man wearing black.
What was shocking is that the thief took less than 2 minutes to gain access into her car before driving it away without anybody suspecting anything amiss. Unfortunately at the time, Yoon had yet to install a GPS tracking system and Anti-Theft systems to safeguard her vehicle as she just got her car.
“I was planning to get the GPS tracking and anti-theft system installed this week, but the car has been stolen before I could even get to it”, she said.
Since the theft, investigations are currently ongoing and the police officer handling her case has mentioned that many MPVs are popular targets for car thieves.
“After this incident, I’m considering getting a sturdy steering wheel lock to prevent this from happening”, she said.
Yoon then ended her post urging all netizens to be careful and to make sure that the car is well equipped with the anti-theft system before actually driving their new car out and about. Following her post, many netizens have left their comments speculating that it could’ve been an inside job.
“If you can’t find it within the next 24 hours, your car has most probably been half cut or illegally shipped to Thailand already.”
“I think there’s a possibility that your car was tracked by a GPS and the thief probably had a spare key.”
“It’s so scary because the thief drove the car like it was his own during the broad daylight.”
