As the cost of living continues to increase, this inevitably also means that the cost of raising children will also go up accordingly. Which is why over the years, an increasing number of married couples in Malaysia have elected to either have fewer children or none at all. In fact in 2021, Malaysia’s recorded its lowest-ever birth rate at only 16 children per 1,000 people.
Mum of 4 wants to give her kids away in hopes that they can get a better life
And it would appear that the high expense of child-rearing costs has taken its toll on one Malaysian mother, who has resigned herself to her inability to care for her own children. According to local newspaper Sin Chew Daily, the woman who is believed to be a single parent, took to posting on a Facebook group annonymously, asking if anyone would like to adopt her 4 children, including her 2-month-old newborn.
“I would like to give away my 4 children, including my 2-month-old newborn to people who are nice and can provide them with good care.
I am too tired of having to keep fighting to survive.”
With that said, she included no further details concerning the difficulties she is currently experiencing, nor the circumstances of her family life. A netizen who encountered her post then asked where she is located and that she is willing to help the single mother take care of her kids until she gets back on her feet/
Following that, a screenshot of her post was then uploaded into the ‘B40 Perangai Apa Harini’ [What are B40 people up to today] Facebook group, where many netizens have expressed their concerns over her situation and encouraged her not to not give up on life.
“Whoever that’s leaving negative comments, I just want to say that you’re not in her life and you shouldn’t be giving her backhanded suggestions. This is her test, not yours. Maybe it’s the smarter choice to give her kids to someone who is able to take care of children instead of her poisoning her kids.”
“I hope God eases your burden that you have to carry.”
“Do you think it’s easy for a mother to make such decisions? It’s extremely heavy and difficult to much such choices and there must be reasons why she decided to do this. Everyone’s struggles are different. The struggles may seem light to you but heavy upon the one carrying it. Whatever it is, we should pray and hope that her burdens can be lessen and wish them all the best.”
“May God lessen your burdens.”
“May your burdens be lessen.”
“I hope God lessen your burdens and give you enough to continue taking care of your children.”
