Living in a multi-cultural country like Malaysia, being able to speak at least 2 languages is a common scene, but what’s difficult is to be fluent in all languages you’ve learned, especially when it’s not your mother tongue. However, for this Malaysian, it seems like she’s the embodiment of a true Malaysian as she’s able to master the ability to speak fluent Mandarin!
M’sian mother sends her daughter to SJK(c) so she can be fluent in mandarin
In a recent video on TikTok, a Malaysian mother named Arba’a binti Ali has shared a short video of her and her daughter speaking in Mandarin. In fluent Mandarin, her daughter asked if she could get a new head scarf as her current one is tainted and dirty.

She then replied to her daughter in Mandaring saying,
“Do you have any money to buy a new head scarf?”
Her daughter answered saying that she does have money for a new head scarf. Amazed by their ability to converse fully in Mandarin, Arba’a binti Ali revealed to Wau Post that she has received her Mandarin education from attending a Chinese vernacular school and Chinese secondary school until she was in secondary 3.

She was aware of how beneficial it was to learn a different language and subsequently enrolled her daughter into a Chinese vernacular school for her primary education.
Appeared on several singing talent shows in China!
That being said, learning a new language has also allowed her to broaden her opportunities! Sharing her joy, Arba’a binti Ali shares that her daughter, Fatimah Noryyah has a knack for singing and her ability to speak in Mandarin has allowed her to participate in several singing talent shows in China!

Speaking to Wau Post, she shared that Fatimah has been featured in several singing talent shows such as Let’s Sing Kid Season 5 in Hunan and The Jungle voice 2 in Taiwan few years back. Other than that, Fatimah also has a YouTube channel where she often uploads song covers in mandarin. When asked about what she hopes for her daughter, Arba’a shared that she hopes that her daughter will continue to learn and fine tune her Mandarin speaking abilities.

“I hope she will continue to speak and learn Mandarin for as long as she can, better if she could pass this down to her future children”, she said.
It seems like the future for the 15-year-old girl is as bright as the sun and we hope that she can continue to shine!
