The last thing anybody wants to experience when enjoying a meal is to find something that doesn’t belong in their food. Which is why when it comes to running an eatery or restaurant, it is absolutely essential that one is aware of the prerequisite rules and regulations surrounding the handling and preparation of raw ingredients and dishes.
Only for one Malaysian netizen, this incredibly crucial responsibility appears to have eluded a vendor that her family had recently bought food from, resulting in a most unpleasant experience.
M’sian family buys vadai from Ramadan bazaar
As shared by TikTok user Nurul Ain (@rezqiyusufcowarehouse) on her profile, she documented how her sister-in-law had first brought back some pieces of vadai from a local Ramadan bazaar located around the Banting-Sepang area, as their family had intended to break fast at her mother’s house.
For those not in the know, vadai is a South Indian savoury fritter that is typically stuffed with a variety of vegetables and flavoured with spices.
Only in this case, the vadai enjoyed by the family came with a different filling altogether. In speaking with Wau Post, Nurul explained that her brother had first taken a bite of the snack.
“Initially he started chewing and appears to hold a piece of the vadai in his mouth, as he thought there was a hard piece of lentil in it.
But the longer he chewed, the stranger it felt as it was really hard.” she said.
Shocked to find rotten tooth in it
As one does, her brother eventually spat out the bite of vadai he had been chewing on, only to make a horrifying discovery: what he had been trying to chew into was not a piece of lentil, but rather a rotten tooth.
“He immediately shouted ‘LOOK, THERE’S A TOOTH!’
Initially, I didn’t believe it myself and asked if it really was a tooth, and if it was possible that the tooth belonged to him and had fallen out while he was eating.”
Upon checking, Nurul’s brother said that the tooth was not his, especially considering the size of the tooth in question, which would have resulted in quite a severe amount of pain and bleeding if it did fall out.
It was at that moment that they could confirm that the tooth did indeed come from the vadai they had bought.
The post has since attracted much attention online, with many left equally amused and disgusted by the find.
“From me feeling hungry, I would immediately feel full.”
“This is why I never go to Ramadan bazaars.”
“Maybe their blender broke down, so they resorted to breaking down the ingredients by chewing it!”
