According to local daily Harian Metro, Muhammad Zakri Saimon and Zahrah Mohd Jamian are currently living at the Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) in Desa Tun Razak with their 6 children. With one of their children completing their diploma studies in a university and the rest in school, the man shared that his monthly commitments are quite high.
Working as a bodyguard, Zakri who is currently 48 years old earns a mere RM2,530 monthly. Unfortunately, with household commitments, he hasn’t been able to pay for his electricity bills for over 6 months.
“Currently, the outstanding amount is at RM2,853.30 and our power has been cut for over a week”, he said.
Sharing his struggles, on top of his full-time job, his wife would bake some cakes for him to sell during weeknights, but with the power cut, his wife is unable to bake anymore.
“I’m upset because I’m unable to pay the outstanding amount, resulting into my wife and children going through this hardship with me”, he mentioned.
Adding on to it, Zakri revealed that he feels disheartened that his differently abled child has to suffer with them.
“It’s bad enough that she’s bed-ridden, and now she is forced to live in the dark and bear the scorching heat”, he said.
On top of that, Zakri revealed that they’ve been quite behind with their bed-ridden daughter’s physiotherapy appointments due to their financial difficulties. When asked about their electricity usage, Zakri mentioned that they have to use their air-conditioner when it’s really hot as their daughter is prone to seizures, especially during the hot weather.
