Today will be the final day that our Muslim friends across Malaysia will have to make preparations ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan, which is set to begin tomorrow on March 23rd. With that, we are also inching ever closer to the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities, which will no doubt be ushered in with much merriment, especially with families returning to pastoral villages to usher in the celebrations.
Malaysian recreates the atmosphere of a kampung Hari Raya in The Sims 4
And in tribute to that indescribable sense of not just joy, but as well as nostalgia that going back to your hometown for the holidays can inspire, one Malaysian content creator has blown local social media users away with her depiction of a typical Malay family getting ready on the very first day of Raya in the simulation game, The Sims 4.
As shared by user @aefleurr to her TikTok account, she showcases uniquely Malaysian scenes that are typical to almost every household during the Hari Raya celebrations upon their return to their own kampungs. Perfectly encapsulating the rural and pastoral charm that is typical to the interiors of the country in The Sims 4, the clip starts off with the wee hours of the morning as her virtual family wakes up.
Given how most traditional kampung houses have limited bathrooms, each character, otherwise known as a Sim, could be seen dutifully waiting their turn to shower and freshen up before going about their day.
Accurate down to the last detail!
It then cuts to other incredibly familiar snippets of kampung life come the festive season, including the family’s grandmother dressed in her brand-new telekung before they all head off to the local mosque for prayers, each sporting traditional attire of their own such as baju Melayu and baju kurung.
The attention to detail doesn’t stop there, as she even went to the extent of incorporating some dishes that are truly befitting of the Raya season on the family dining table, including murtabak, satay, a selection of kuih, and of course the obligatory Sunkist orange juice!
With its heartwarming notes of familiarity, the video has quickly amassed an overwhelming following online, having been viewed a whopping 1.3 million times since it was uploaded 4 days ago!
Many have praised her for accurately depicting the atmosphere of a Malaysian kampung during Hari Raya.
“You’re so clever at making the house look exactly like the ones in a kampung! Love your content. Keep up the good work sis!”
“I’m really feeling the vibe here!”
“Woah, that’s exactly the same routine as mine, how accurate!”
