In shocking news today (17/5), it was reported that Mid Valley Megamall that’s located in Kuala Lumpur was caught in a blaze. The incident was first shared by multiple passersby on their social media and in the pictures posted, it can be seen that there was thick black smoke emitting from the mall.
Mid Valley Megamall issues temporary closure notice
Following that, local newspaper China Press has reported that the fire rescue team has been alerted of the issue and has made their way over to prevent the situation from escalating. Subsequently, Mid Valley Megamall has issued a temporary closure notice due to the fire that just broke out.
According to the management’s mall closure notice, it was revealed that the cause of the fire was because of the external TNB substation in the mall. Fortunately, as of 11:35am, the management has confirmed that there has been no reports of casualties or injuries.
Subsequently, GSC cinemas that’s located in the mall has also issued a closure notice, informing movie goers that all scheduled movies in their Mid Valley branch will be cancelled and those who have purchased their tickets online will be given a full refund within 14 working days.
With that said, Mid Valley Megamall will be temporarily closed until further notice as an attempt to ensure the safety of their shoppers and other guests, whilst apologising for any inconvenience they may have caused during this period.
