Malaysia expresses interest to co-host 2034 World Cup with Indonesia, Singapore & Australia
According to International news agency, Reuters, it was reported that Malaysia has expressed its interest in co-hosting the 2034 World Cup with other countries like Indonesia, Singapore and Australia. As of now, Indonesia is currently in talks with Australia on the possibilities of co-hosting the prestigious sports events. said the president of the country’s football federation (PSSI).
“We are currently in discussion with Australia for a possible bid”, said PSSI President Erick Thohir, adding that both Malaysia and Singapore have also expressed their interest in co-hosting.
“FIFA opened the bidding for the 2034 World Cup to Oceana and Asia and Saudi Arabia has responded, expressing their interest to bid for hosting the World Cup”, said Reuters.
Other than that, it was also reported that FIFA has given a deadline for other countries who wish to express their intentions in bidding for the hosting rights and the deadline is set on 31 October 2023.
In similar news, FIFA announced that Spain, Morocco and Portugal would host the 2030 World Cup, with Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina staging the opening games. This news comes after the announcement that the 2026 World cup will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
