Parents truly have one of the most selfless roles in a child’s life as they’re responsible for their wellbeing and livelihood. And as the saying goes, a parent’s love knows no bounds, this is apparent in a 70-year-old Malaysian uncle where he was spotted having to walk 4km a day just to get to his workplace.
70yo M’sia walks 4km a day to his workplace and earns RM45 per day
Just recently, a TikTok content creator named Saharuddin Amirullah has shared a heartbreaking video of a 70-year-old uncle. In his video, he revealed that the old man would walk 4km a day just so he can head over to the construction site to work. Saharuddin mentioned that he stumbled upon this uncle as he was walking home and approached him gently.

He exchanged salam (greetings) with the old man and reassured the old man that he’s not going to hurt him. The old man then asked what he could do for Saharuddin, to which he replied the old man saying that he has bought some necessities for him.
“I bought some rice for you, would you like them?”, he asked.

The old man seemingly grateful accepted his kind gesture and to top it off, he was offered a ride home as Saharuddin didn’t want him carrying the bag of rice while walking. As they were in the car, he asked the old man how much he earns, and he replied softly saying he only earns RM45 a day.
“Is that enough, pak cik (uncle)?”, asked Saharuddin.
The old man shook his head and said,
“If I don’t work, my family doesn’t get to eat.”

Local newspaper Sin Chew Daily shared that the old man has got daughters under his care, and they all depend on his daily wages. Speaking to Wau Post, Saharuddin shared that there has been people reaching out to him to get a bicycle for him, but arrangements will only be made after Hari Raya Haji this week.
Following that, Saharuddin urged that locals would lend a helping hand and help sincerely.
“If you’d like to offer help, please help sincerely, don’t question them about their background as we are here to help and spread love to those in need”, he said.
