As the cost-of-living rises, many have been struggling to put food on the table. In an attempt to aid the less fortunate, a Malaysian teacher has decided to set up a program that feeds meals to the less fortunate.
M’sian teacher sets up program that feeds meals to the less fortunate
According to local newspaper Sinar Harian, Muhammad Farhan Param Kunaseigaran, affectionately known as cikgu Param, has been giving out meals for free to those in need. Inspired by his late father, the 37-year-old teacher revealed that his father would always prepare food like Nasi Lemak, local pastries and other delights for those who are in need.
“It has been embedded in me since young to help those around me”, he said.
Recalling his conversation with his late father, the teacher shared that he didn’t grow up from a well to do family, and his dad was working as a cleaner in a school back then. Asking his father as to why he would always share his food with their neighbours and those around them his father said,
“If we are the only ones who eat it, we will be the only ones full. If we share our food, many stomachs would be filled.”
To help is to inspire
After losing his parents and his brother awhile back, his project to help the needy has given him hope and motivation to continue living. Sharing his journey of starting the program, cikgu Param mentioned that it all started when he gave 3 packs of Nasi Lemak to those around his neighborhood.
Since then, he and his friends have decided to continue on, using their own money to provide food to more of those in need. Along with the help of some donations, cikgu Param and his friends are able to prepare over 200 to 300 packs of food to help the less fortunate.
We’re so happy that you’ve found purpose and joy in helping those who are in need. May you be able to continue helping people!
