Just yesterday, various new portals have reported that the diesel prices will be increasing going from RM2.15 to RM3.35. The increase in price is observed as the government makes adjustments to the subsidies of the fuel.
Diesel prices to start at RM3.15 per litre today (10 June)
According to local news channel, Astro Awani, based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism formula, the price increase is standard to the market price. Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan also announced on a press conference that the implementation of the targeted subsidy can help the government save up to RM4 billion a year. With that said, the government will be offering a RM200 financial assistance to those who are eligible.
While the targeted subsidy takes effect today (June 10), it’s worth noting that Sabah and Sarawak will not be affected by this change. Following the targeted subsidy approach, here’s how you can apply and check if you’re eligible for the diesel subsidy!
