AirAsia, a subsidiary of Capital A, has been awarded as the world’s best low-cost courier for the 14th consecutive year by Skytrax, a leading aviation services research firm.

The UK based company has conducted interviews with over 9.5 million passengers from over 100 countries and regions between September to May this year, allowing them to vote for the world’s top airlines. Subsequently local newspaper China Press reported that, AirAsia, a Malaysian owned brand was crowned as the best low-cost carrier in Asia and in the world!

Capital A CEO, Tan Sri Tony Fernandez attended the award ceremony held in Paris and when interviewed by Malaysian media, he expressed his gratitude saying that “not many brands in Asia can do it. ”

Other than that, he revealed that since the company has been established 21 years ago, the award that’s deemed as most significant to him would be this award as AirAsia and AirAsia Long are expected to make a strong comeback this year. He said that operating an airline wasn’t easy during the pandemic but is thankful for the challenges as it would help bring the brand to greater heights.

21 years into the aviation industry, Tony was very transparent with his struggles and shared that the best decision he has made was to rebuild AirAsia.

“It’s hard to start an airline, but it’s harder to restart an airline with 200 planes”, he said.

Following that, Skytrax CEO Edward Pressted said that AirAsia has been a popular choice for passengers since it was included in the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline category in 2010 and has achieved remarkable consistency every year.
