As many of you will no doubt have read at this point, Malaysia and Singapore have finally come to the agreement to reopen their borders to one another beginning 1st April 2022. And while citizens from both countries were previously able to travel via quotas allocated with the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) program, that has now been completely done away and replaced with the Vaccinated Travel Scheme, which enables all fully-vaccinated travellers to move across the borders as before.
M’sian man finally gets to return home from Singapore
Understandably, this had led to many families that have previously been kept apart by the Causeway to finally be able to enjoy heartfelt reunions with their loved ones. But that’s not to forget the equally touching reunions between pet owners and their cherished four-legged friends either. Just recently, a TikTok video that was uploaded by netizen @paandichelsea has since gone viral after he had shared how he has finally been able to meet his dogs again after returning to Malaysia from Singapore.
The clip, which was just a little under 2-minutes, showed Mr Paandi approaching the front-gate of his home as one of his dogs, a strikingly beautiful golden retriever, excitedly stood up on its hind legs while leaning against the gate. Its tail can be seen waggling with unimaginable zeal while a young boy looked on.
A heartfelt reunion with his beloved doggos
As the camera pans, we then see yet another similarly beautiful golden retriever in its cage, barking out loud and waiting to be let out. As Paandi lets himself into the front-porch of the home, the other dog immediately leapt up towards him in a truly moving home-coming moment. Reciprocating in kind, Paandi kneels down to embrace his dog before lifting to cradle it in both his arms.
The video then cuts to Paandi moving to let his other dog out of its cage, before both of them jump around him in an overwhelming display of affection. As he lays on the ground, they pepper him with snout boops and wet kisses.
In his caption, Paandi reveals that he hasn’t seen his beloved dogs in over 486 days, which is a little over a year and three months, due to border restrictions between both countries. He has also shared with Wau Post that he is currently working with a manufacturing company across the Cuaseway.
His video has since been warmly received by netizens, many of whom shared how it has touched their hearts as well.
