S’wakian TVET graduate who works in an US company gets rewarded with special award for his performance

TVET programs in Malaysia are designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the demands of various industries. While there has been negative perception towards the program in Malaysia, this Sarawakian man has proved to many that graduating from a TVET program can still open plenty of doors in his career!

S’wakian TVET graduate now works in an US company!

According to a post on Facebook by My IKM Kuching, Dexter Anak Vincent, was once a student in IKM Kuching. After finishing his secondary studies, he proceeded to complete his tertiary education by joining one of the TVET programs, learning the skills necessary for welding technology.

Shortly after graduating back in 2012, Dexter then landed his first job at Bintulu Yard. After that, he headed to our neighboring country, Singapore, where he worked in a Marine Contractor company for a couple of years. Along with his experience garnered over the years, Dexter decided to take a leap of faith and work in America.

With his hard work and perseverance, Dexter is now working in a company based in New Orleans. And on top of that, he was recently honored with a special award certificate! Explaining further he said,

“This special award was given to me because I managed to identify a major problem with our ongoing project.”

Adding on to it, Dexter mentioned that the issue identified was a pivotal moment for their project because it could delay and complicate other projects.

“Other follow-up actions required has allowed my company to not damage any of the equipment we have prevented delays”, said the man.
