Teachers play a crucial role in shaping the lives of students and society as a whole. Other than being responsible for imparting knowledge, it’s also in their duty to create a happy and productive learning environment. In an effort to do so, this teacher in Malaysia has decided to renovate his classroom to pique his students’ interests.
M’sian teacher uses his own money to upgrade his classroom into a cafe
Sharing it on his Facebook, Cikgu Al Tarmizi has decided to remodel his classroom, making it a more conducive environment for his students to learn. Remodeling it into a “hipster themed cafe”, the teacher revealed that all of the cost needed to upgrade the classroom is entirely funded by him.
“Many have asked where my salary has gone, I’ve just used a part of it to remodel the classroom as much as I can”, he said.

Teaching in a rural school in Sarawak, he then came up with the idea to transform the normal classroom into a hipster themed cafe, providing a fun learning environment for his 32 students. Designed to run like a cafe, the students are responsible for taking attendance and finding out who hasn’t taken their breakfast.
After taking their attendance, the teacher has also followed a charity concept, where breakfast is prepared for those who came to school without taking their breakfast. Despite working in a rural school, Tarmizi is adamant in making sure that he will be able to create an environment where his students are able to learn in a fun way.

“I believe that any teacher would do the same to help their students”, he mentioned.
Expressing his gratitude towards the school headmaster, Tarmizi shared that his idea wouldn’t have become a reality if it wasn’t for the support he received.
